Kuala Pilah, 14 December 2021 (Korporat SUKNS) – The Negeri Sembilan’s newest tourist attraction, the Ngoca Football Festival at Kampung Budaya Terachi here invites visitors to walk down the memory lane with ‘mengoca’ (freshwater fishing contest), a traditional game which has been practiced by paddy farmers in the district for decades.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Aminuddin Harun said the two-day festival, starting today, was expected to attract 10,000 visitors. He said apart from football, various traditional games would also be held, including greasy pole-climbing, duck-catching and pillow wrestling.

We received encouraging response with a total of 128 teams participating including those from other states such as Kedah and Terengganu. Guesthouses around the area are also fully booked,” he told reporters after officiating the Ngoca Football Festival here.

He added that these traditional games would provide a unique experience for youths and hoped the group to continue keeping them alive. Aminuddin said a total of RM840,000 was allocated to build the ‘ngoca’ football stadium on 4.04 hectares of paddy fields, which was also equipped with shower facilities.

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture had also allocated RM3 million to upgrade Block B of Kampung Budaya Terachi as a tourism location as well as to boost the economy of the local community.
