— The investiture of the state awards, medals and honours in conjunction with the 73rd birthday of the Negeri Sembilan Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Almarhum Tuanku Munawir scheduled for Thursday, has been cancelled.

State Secretary Dato’ Dr Razali Ab Malik in a statement here today said the cancellation was decreed by Tuanku Muhriz following the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) to curb the spread of COVID-19 as announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday.

“Therefore, all programmes related to the investiture ceremony at the Throne Room of Istana Besar Seri Menanti are cancelled,” he said.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin announced that the government will implement a two-week MCO in six states, namely Penang, Selangor, Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan), Melaka, Johor and Sabah from tomorrow until Jan 26.

During the same period, six other states, namely Pahang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan, will be placed under Conditional MCO, while Perlis and Sarawak will be under Recovery MCO.

Earlier today, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah proclaimed a COVID-19 emergency that will be enforced up to Aug 1 as a proactive measure to contain the worsening pandemic in Malaysia.
