Seremban, 26 August 2020 (Korporat SUKNS) -- The State Level National Day celebration, which usually attracts several thousand people, is set to be a low-key affair this year with only invited guests allowed to attend, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Aminuddin Harun.

He said less than 250 people, including state Ruler Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, his consort Tunku Ampuan Besar Negri Sembilan Tuanku Aishah Rohani Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud, the Ruling Chiefs would be at the event at Padang Majlis Bandaraya Seremban.

The entire programme will be a 'closed door' affair and will end within 90 minutes as we wish to keep to the standard operating procedure (SOP) to prevent the spread of Covid-19. We are also doing away with all other events usually held to mark National Day.

Aminuddin said state exco members, government department heads and frontliners battling the pandemic would make up the other guests at the event.

Tuanku Muhriz and his consort are scheduled to arrive at 8.30am, and this will be followed by the state anthem and the raising of the Jalur Gemilang.

"My exco members and I will then recite the Rukun Negara before the state Ruler and the Ruling Chiefs. The state anthem will then be played again before the departure of the royals," he said.

Aminuddin expressed hope that the people would not turn up at the event.

"Please, take note that there will be no National Day parade held this year, so please stay home and celebrate national Day in your own special way," he said.

He added that those who wished to follow the state-level National Day celebration could do so via the state government's Facebook page.
